Frequently asked questions
What do D / S / K mean?
D means Dominant, S means Submissive, and K means Kinky overall. D and S can both be true at the same time.
How does private comparison work?
Your partner answers a separate, fixed questionnaire. Shared interests and complementary roles require mutual Yes; No and Skip never imply consent.
Where are my answers stored?
Your test answers stay in this browser. Share links contain encrypted answers and can expire after 1 hour, 24 hours, 7 days, or never.
Can I retake the test?
Yes. Start again whenever your answers or perspective change.
What happens if I skip a question?
Skipped answers contribute no points. No and Skip never constitute consent.
Can I change an answer?
Yes. Use Previous question before submitting, then choose a different option.
Understanding your kink test
A kink test can give you vocabulary for a conversation, but it cannot decide what is right for you. This free questionnaire is for adults aged 18 and over who want to reflect on preferences without creating an account. There is no ideal score, no requirement to experiment, and no reason to accept a label that does not feel useful. Your answers describe a moment, not your worth, relationship quality, identity, or readiness for a specific activity.
What D, S, and K actually describe
D describes an interest in guiding or leading within an agreed experience. S describes an interest in receiving guidance or temporarily handing over control. These are independent directions: someone may enjoy both, one, or neither. K describes curiosity about unfamiliar roles or shared experiences in this particular question set. It is not a ranking of experience, confidence, or sexual health. A result must always be read alongside the individual answers that produced it.
How the score is calculated
The personal questionnaire contains twelve questions: four D, four S, and four K. Yes contributes three points, Maybe one and a half, and No or Skip contributes zero. Each dimension’s total is divided by twelve, multiplied by nine, and rounded to a whole number. Skipped items remain in the denominator, so skipping is a missing preference rather than proof of disinterest. These transparent rules are a reflection aid, not a clinically validated assessment or population percentile.
Privacy, consent, and sharing
Your personal answers are kept in this browser’s local storage and are not uploaded to an answer database. Clearing browser storage removes the local copy. When you choose to share, your browser encrypts the result and puts it in a bearer link: anyone with the complete link can decrypt it. A time limit may be one hour, twenty-four hours, seven days, or permanent. Opening a limited link contacts a third-party UTC service to check time; its availability and your network still matter.
Partner comparison uses a separate, fixed questionnaire. Joint-interest answers are compared as shared interests; leading and receiving prompts are compared as complementary roles. Only mutual Yes answers become confirmed intentions. No and Skip never imply consent to the opposite role, and Maybe calls for conversation rather than action. Even a mutual Yes is not permission to proceed: discuss the specific situation, check in, and respect a changed mind without pressure.
Kink roles: eight terms you may encounter
The following are educational terms, not eight results generated by this test. The D/S/K questionnaire does not measure relationship structure, restraint skills, or adult role identities. Use these explanations to ask better questions, not to assign yourself or a partner a category.

Time Player
This informal phrase sometimes describes interest in trying experiences occasionally rather than making them central to everyday life. It has no standardized clinical meaning and should not be treated as a test category. You can enjoy a particular context without adopting a lasting identity. Ask what someone means by the term instead of assuming their availability, boundaries, or preferred activities.
Master / Mistress
Some adults use these role titles for a negotiated leading position in a relationship or scene. A title grants no automatic authority and never removes another person’s agency. Agree on scope, limits, privacy, and ways to stop before adopting any role. Outside an agreed context, ordinary mutual respect and independent decision-making continue to apply.
Non-Monogamous
Consensual non-monogamy describes relationship agreements that may allow more than one romantic or sexual connection. It is not the same thing as dishonesty and is not determined by a kink score. Everyone affected needs clear, voluntary agreements about communication, sexual health, time, and disclosure. Choosing monogamy is equally valid, and curiosity alone does not establish consent to change a relationship.
Rigger
A rigger is commonly the person arranging rope or other restraint in a negotiated activity. This is a technical skill rather than a personality trait. Restraints can create circulation, nerve, breathing, and fall risks; an online quiz cannot establish competence. Seek appropriate hands-on education, make emergency release possible, and avoid any activity whose risks you cannot assess or respond to.
Transformation & Exploration
Exploration may involve changing presentation, trying a fictional character, or switching between leading and following. None of these possibilities defines someone’s gender, orientation, or long-term preferences. Be specific about the setting you both want to explore and what is outside the agreement. You may enjoy one role today and choose another, or none, next time.
Little
Some adults use this term for a negotiated playful or cared-for role. In this guide it refers only to consenting adults; it does not describe or involve children. People use the term differently, so clarify expectations without assumptions. Participation must remain voluntary, and care, communication, autonomy, and the ability to leave a role matter more than the label.
Pet
Adult pet roleplay may describe fictional animal-inspired behavior, playfulness, affection, or a negotiated receiving role. It is not a requirement to behave in a particular way and does not override ordinary consent. Discuss which gestures, names, contexts, and forms of care feel comfortable. A label should never be used to justify humiliation, isolation, or disregard for someone’s needs.
Vanilla
Vanilla is an informal word for preferences someone considers familiar or conventional. Its meaning changes between people and communities. It is not a low achievement level or a problem to fix, and no score makes a person boring. Enjoying familiar connection, declining experimentation, and preferring fewer activities are complete and valid choices that deserve the same respect as any other preference.
Kink test results are a conversation, not a contract
Before using any term in this guide, ask how the other person understands it. Words can describe a fantasy, a preferred relationship dynamic, or a curiosity that someone never wants to act on. None of these meanings is interchangeable. Discuss context, limits and expectations in plain language, and revisit agreements when circumstances change. You can find a term helpful without joining a community or taking on a permanent identity.
Kink test privacy starts with your choices
Keep your result on your device until you decide whether a conversation would help. Sharing is optional, and a partner does not need to receive your complete answer history to respect your boundaries.
Put wellbeing before a result
Choose a calm moment to talk about boundaries and expectations. Consent should be informed, freely given, specific, ongoing, and reversible; intoxication, fear, or pressure can undermine it. Agree on clear ways to pause, and remember that silence or an earlier Yes does not replace a present check-in. Protect physical comfort and emotional safety, stop for pain or distress, and leave room for care afterward. Seek a qualified health professional when you need support; a web quiz cannot assess injuries or treat emotional difficulties.
Take your time with the result. You may share only a summary, keep everything to yourself, or retake the questionnaire when your perspective changes. No partner is entitled to your complete answers. A useful test leaves you with more language and more choice, not an obligation to perform. If a discussion becomes coercive, step back and prioritize your autonomy and safety.
